My – now almost 20 years – training and experience in helping and supporting clients with qualified and accredited counselling

My practice emerged from the experience I gained during my training and following placement years working within the NHS, MIND, Victim Support, The Wandsworth Association of Psychotherapists and The Awareness Centre.

During that time and since then I have worked short and long term with a broad range of people with a variety of issues. I also have experience in the different ways that life can be challenging and keep us stuck, thus preventing us from reaching our full potential.

My Kingston Upon Thames, London and Leeds counselling practice

My work providing counselling in London and Leeds is to support you in discovering both what you want and what you need. I will work with you to find ways to move forward so that you may make better sense of and get the most out of your life.

Together we’ll identify the issues which are causing problems and work towards freeing you from them. In my experience this process can be difficult but also very rewarding. By working with me you’ll be working with somebody who understands this. I also understand that your successful outcome will be as unique as you are.

The common thread that describes me and my different roles as a therapist, supervisor, coach alongside my other services?

It would be offering a non-judgemental, therapeutic and reflective space.

How We Meet

I am trained to work with clients in person, online and over the phone. I currently see most of my clients online via Zoom wherever you may be in the UK and further afield. From the experience you may have of meeting online in your work and personal life, you will have some idea how meeting this way works. For your counselling purposes, I will further guide you how to ensure a safe and private counselling space from which you dial in using a link I will send you. I also have limited availability for my in person appointments in Kingston Upon Thames or London, please contact me for further details. For my Leeds clients where my practice grew over many years, I currently see most of my Leeds clients, most times online. There are one off occasions where we can meet in person, please contact me for further details.

Professional memberships

I am a UKCP registered and accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and a clinical member of the UPCA. I am also a member of the BACP and you will find me listed on their websites. These regulating bodies ensure I continue to work within their ethical frameworks and in your best interest. As a UKCP accredited member my clients work with a therapist that has been further assessed and approved to be on the UK Council for Psychotherapy. The UKCP is ‘recognised nationally and in Europe as an indication of competent and ethical practice’, (UKCP, 2014). I am also listed on the Counselling Directory, which means you are in good hands.

Approach

One of the founders of analysis Jung said: “Learn your theories as well as you can but put them aside when you touch the miracle of living”. With those wise words in mind, my approach as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, supervisor and coach is to work closely with you to create and maintain a trusting, safe and confidential space. Counselling approaches are integrated so that sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs, unique self and experiences, to ensure you are heard and respected. I believe all are paramount and need to be there for what clients bring to their counselling and therapy.
