Is counselling right for you
Counselling may be helpful if:
- You are experiencing anxiety, depression or ongoing stress
- You are dealing with bereavement, loss or a difficult life change
- You are struggling with confidence or self-esteem
- You are experiencing difficulties in relationships, family life or dating
- You are finding it difficult to understand or manage your emotions
- Past experiences continue to affect you in the present
- You feel stuck or overwhelmed and are unsure how to move forward
- You want to better understand yourself and the patterns in your life
- You know something is not working but are not sure exactly what needs to change
- You would like a safe and confidential space to talk through what you are experiencing
How I can help
Counselling can be the space and time you have been looking for to help you step back from what is happening and explore it with someone who is trained to listen without judgement.
Our work together may involve:
- Understanding connections with your thoughts, emotions and what you are experiencing
- Exploring underlying issues and patterns
- Making sense of how difficult or past experiences may be affecting the present
- Developing greater self-awareness
- Exploring relationships and recurring difficulties
- Building confidence and self-understanding
- Understand and improve the many benefits of your relationship with yourself and your body
- Developing and strengthening your communication skills
What to expect
In your counselling sessions, you and I meet once or more weekly either in person and or online. Counselling can be short term, around 6 to 12 weeks, or longer term, from 6 months to open-ended work. How long counselling lasts will depend on the issues you want to explore and the changes you would like to make. We would discuss this together so that we have a shared understanding of your needs and what you would like from counselling. From point of your enquiry, I will work with you both to arrange the practical elements of your regular appointments whether we meet short term (6 to 12 weeks), or long term (6 months to open ended). The length of time you may need will depend on many factors including where you are now, where you would like to be and your individual circumstances. These would be discussed to form a shared understanding of what you want to work on and where you want to get to.
How we meet, online or in person
Whether we meet face to face or online from the earliest beginnings of your appointments I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and reflective space where you can bring the issues you want to work through.
For clients who are able to access my Kingston Upon Thames practice, we meet in person in a comfortable and private space.
For clients who are unable to access in person, we can meet online. Meeting online provides a convenient and accessible way to access counselling sessions wherever you are in the UK as well as further afield. I will guide you from beginning and along the way on how to ensure a safe and confidential online therapy space.
As a qualified counsellor, I have extensive training and experience supporting clients in their counselling sessions with me both in person and online for a range of difficulties, including anxiety, bereavement, depression and stress. Whether the issues you want to work on are anxiety, bereavement or support with another difficulty, whether we meet in person or online, you and what you want to work on is the focus of your counselling.
